Today we were able to talk through the streets of Guangzhou (off Shamian Island) through a Chinese traditional medicine market. We walked through 2 full city blocks of markets, and there was an entire building (gray building in pictures) also full of these medicines. There are dried seahorses, dried snakes, starfish, many kinds of herbs - including Monk root that looks like a potato and is supposed to help high blood pressure. There were also several buckets of very much alive scorpions.
Next we walked through several blocks of a pet market that had many different kinds of fish and turtles, also birds, bunnies, cats and dogs.
Finally we got to the shopping area - went inside the Pearl Market, which is actually an entire shopping mall full of pearl and turquoise stores. We got Maddux a new pair of shoes since the pair he came with were falling apart. Maddux also had his first meal at McDonald's, some chicken nuggets and fries and a soda!
Tomorrow is a free day, and on Sunday we are going to visit the Safari Park.
